DOLK: Dolk Does Kity Riot On Canvas (Red,Pink,Orange)
DOLK: Norwegian street artist Dolk released an edition last month that has now been released as a canvas. The new edition titled KittyRiot is a female companion to one of Dolk’s most iconic piece titled Teddy Riot. Dolk has now created KittyRiot is now available on canvas in three different color versions (Red, Pink, Orange)
KittyRiot is a piece by Dolk that I feel plays into Shepard Fairey’s recent collaboration with Sanrio that resulted in his print release titled Hello Kitty. For Sanrio’s 50th Anniversary they commissioned a number of street artists to create artworks that take a contemporary approach on the company’s iconic character. Dolk was not one of the artists selected by Sanrio and I think this piece speaks to his exclusion from the list of sponsored artists.
