Mr Brainwash: Bat Papi & Cat Nana Editions

Mr Brainwash’s newest edition is a pair of works titled Bat Papi and Cat Nana. Mr Brainwash has  based the edition on two paintings that were featured in his collaborative documentary with Banksy, Exit Through the Gift Shop. Mr Brainwash’s studio has announced that these artworks are being released to celebrate Exit Through the Gift Shop’s Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Film. Mr Brainwash explains in Exit Through the Gift Shop that Bat Papi is intended to be the grandfather of the well known comic book superhero Batman. Bat Papi and Cat Nana by Mr Brainwash recognize the place cinema and entertainment hold in our lives with their parody of the imaginary, crime fighting Batman and Catwoman. In suggesting a family lineage, an ancestry for these fictional characters, Bat Papi and Cat Nana by Mr Brainwash remind the spotlight the influence of entertainment (timely given this season of Award Ceremonies for Actors and Actresses of the Silver Screen). Even more than the power of entertainment, Mr Brainwash uses Bat Papi and Cat Nana to confront the reality of fiction.
