Mr Brainwash: Mr Brainwash Print Plays With Santa

Mr Brainwash: Street artist Mr Brainwash (MBW) celebrates Christmas with a seasonal edition titled “I Still Believe In Love”. The newest print from Mr Brainwash is here just in time for holidays and features Santa Claus. Mr Brainwash pictures Santa caught in the act of street art, with a paint can at his feet, spreading the message of love with a green paint covered brush in hand. Mr Brainwash pulls inspiration from Coca Cola’s Santa Campaign, particularly a calendar image from 1959. Mr Brainwash choice to appropriate an image associated with a major company like Coca Cola, calls into question whether he was simply trying to spread some holiday cheer through art or call into examination Coca Cola’s role in the development of a holiday icon. Mr Brainwash seems to be commenting on corporate America’s impact on the lives of its consumers. Mr Brainwash demonstrates the cultural influence a company’s advertisements can have, as seen in the establishing of Santa’s place in the Christmas by Coke. Mr Brainwash does not picture Santa sneaking in the refrigerator for a Coke, an image and concept that paired Christmas with the refreshment, but instead suggests Santa jobs as emphasizing a message of love. Mr Brainwash changes the message of believing in Santa, the mystery surrounding an icon popularized by sale of soda, to one of love.

None the less, whether Mr Brainwash believes in Santa or not, on behalf of the Cinque Collective – Happy Holidays
