Shepard Fairey: Peace Corps 50th Anniversary Art

This year the Peace Corps celebrates their 50th Anniversary with a 50th Anniversary Fund. To commemorate this milestone the organization has teamed up with Shepard Fairey to create a limited edition print that will be presented to donors. Shepard Fairey’s ‘Peace Corps Donor Recognition Item’ aims to advance the agency’s goals to educate and engage the public about the Peace Corps, its Volunteers, and activities. Shepard Fairey has a personal connection with the Peace Corps as his sister worked with the organization in a past project in Togo.

“I’m inspired by the work of Peace Corps volunteers around the world. Volunteers share their creativity and compassion with their local communities,” said Shepard Fairey. “I hope this poster inspires the next generation of volunteers.”

Donors to the Peace Corps 50th Anniversary Fund will receive one of Shepard Fairey’s editions based on the monetary quantity they give. To acquire a signed and numbered piece, a charitable donation of $1000.USD or more is required.

Peace Corps describes Shepard Fairey relation to the organization as the following: ”His street-art origins, which allowed him to become successful without the support of traditional gallery representation, reflect the grassroots culture of Peace Corps Volunteers. The commission of this artwork was made anonymously by active members of the RPCV community.”

Peace Corps by Shepard Fairey comes from an edition of 450 pieces, signed and numbered by Shepard Fairey. These hand pulled screen prints are on 80lb cover, french cream speckletone paper, measuring 18 x 24 inches / 46 x 61 cm.
